BIO
Melina Costanza is one of the most decorated competition climbers in U.S. history — a five-time U.S. National Champion, five-time North American Cup Gold Medalist, and World Championship Bronze Medalist.
In 2023 and 2024, Melina made history as the only U.S. athlete ever to win back-to-back double National Championship titles in both Lead and Bouldering — a feat unmatched in American climbing. Her performance established her as one of the sport’s most complete and composed all-around competitors.
Representing Team USA, Melina claimed bronze in Bouldering at the 2025 IFSC World Championships in Seoul, becoming one of only a handful of U.S. climbers ever to reach a World Championship podium, and marking a milestone performance that positioned her among the world’s elite. She is currently focused on the path to qualifying for the 2028 Olympic Games in Los Angeles.
Originally from Seattle, Washington, Melina began climbing in early childhood and quickly rose through youth and collegiate circuits, earning multiple national and PanAmerican titles before joining the elite international field. A graduate of an Ivy League university with a degree in Physics, she pairs her analytical mind with an athlete’s intuition. Known for her quiet intensity, technical precision, and unshakable composure under pressure, she has become a model of focus and resilience within the climbing community.
Off the wall, Melina advocates for athlete mental health, intentional performance, and authenticity in sport. She currently lives and trains in Salt Lake City, Utah, balancing her competition career with her work as a registered patent agent at a prominent Seattle-based Intellectual Property law firm.
